Samsung’s One UI 6 update brings the power of AI to the cameras of the galaxy phone series

Samsung is set to enhance the camera experience on its Galaxy phones with a range of innovative features powered by AI in the upcoming One UI 6 software update. The deployment, based on Google’s extensive Android 14 platform, is already making its way to European countries and is expected to reach the US shortly. This aligns with the growing influence of AI in the smartphone landscape, highlighted by recent advancements from tech giants like Google and Qualcomm.

In a move reminiscent of industry leaders Apple and Google, Samsung introduces AI Image Clipping in One UI 6. This feature empowers Galaxy users to effortlessly cut objects from photos, transforming them into versatile stickers for use in other images. Drawing parallels with Apple’s iOS 17, a GIF in Samsung’s announcement showcases the sticker’s resizable capability, resembling Google’s Magic Editor for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Expanding on the existing Galaxy Enhance-X app, known for its advanced photo-editing tools, One UI 6 introduces exciting additions. Among them is the Sky Guide feature, utilizing AI to identify constellations and stars after capturing a photo of the night sky. Enhance-X also integrates Samsung’s Single Take feature, allowing users to apply it to motion-filled videos and images, extracting the best stills and clips effortlessly.

Beyond these AI-driven enhancements, Samsung aims to streamline the camera experience with added convenience. Document scanning will see improvements, and users can seamlessly switch to higher resolution shooting modes within the camera app. Personalized camera modes, such as panorama or portrait, can be saved as widgets directly on the home screen. The camera app’s editing tools layout receives an update, incorporating undo and redo buttons for easy navigation through edits.
